A Look Back at Engaging Lectures and Efficient Networking
Amid great applause, ZWP Chairman Hans-Joachim Kloth and Dr.-Ing. Jan Richarz, Senior Consultant at MorgenGrün, introduced the new ZWP brand MorgenGrün at the Rhein-Ruhr Real Estate networking roundtable. The new brand launch sparked lively discussions even after the event. Jan’s lecture on “Building Modernization – Challenges and Innovative Solutions for Energy Design in Existing Buildings” concluded with a standing ovation from the audience.
Over 120 Real Estate Experts Gathered in Düsseldorf on November 14
More than 120 industry professionals came together to exchange ideas, gain valuable insights, and engage in extensive networking.
The evening focused on one central question: How can we make real estate fit for the future? Together, attendees developed sustainable strategies to tackle the technological, economic, and demographic challenges ahead. The event fostered an inspiring exchange that aims to pave the way for a more sustainable real estate industry.
Environmental, Social, Governance
"At the 61st Rhein-Ruhr Real Estate networking roundtable, ESG was the key topic. I attended the event with Hans-Joachim Kloth, where we introduced MorgenGrün and our new approach to energy design for existing buildings," Jan explained.
One key takeaway from Jan’s lecture: How do innovative energy design methods drive ESG compliance?
Real estate owners often have very different ideas about how to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve ESG requirements. To achieve their goals, they need customized energy design and smart investment planning.
Effective energy design must consider the complex interactions between building envelopes, energy generation, storage, and distribution to develop modern, low-carbon energy systems. To ensure seamless integration, the sizing of energy sources, storage units, and building envelope measures must be carefully aligned. This prevents costly "lock-in effects" and maximizes emissions and cost savings over the next 30 years—or even longer.
The Challenge: Thousands of possible variants and traditional methods struggle to efficiently evaluate the thousands of possible energy system configurations. This is where mathematical optimization methods come into play. These tools determine the cost-optimal energy system for a building while factoring in individual goals and system interactions. MorgenGrün’s method combines a physical model of the building and its systems with advanced algorithms.
Jan’s lecture ended with resounding applause from the audience.
Diverse Perspectives
Additionally, Ariane Bockhold, Director ESG – Management & Strategy at LBBW, provided fascinating insights into how banks approach ESG financing. Julian Kaup, Managing Director of Transaction & Asset Management at Sonar Real Estate, offered an asset manager’s perspective on ESG requirements.
What Is the Rhein-Ruhr Real Estate networking roundtable?
For nearly 20 years, the Rhein-Ruhr Real Estate networking roundtable has been a key networking event for commercial real estate professionals in the Rhein-Ruhr metropolitan region and beyond. Over time, it has evolved into a top-tier industry gathering.
The event is successfully organized by Max Schultheis andMartin Ritterbach, whose goal is to "reach 100 events." With their 62nd event scheduled for March 2025, they are well on their way!
